The Structural Biology Laboratory at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology, University of Gdansk and Medical University of Gdansk (IFB UG & MUG), Poland, is excited to invite applications for a postdoctoral researcher to join our OPUS26 project funded by the National Science Centre (Poland). This project, titled “Exploring the Impact of Salmonella on the Ubiquitin-Proteasome System” provides a unique opportunity to engage in high-impact research in the field of protein biochemistry and structural biology.

Project abstract

We are looking for a passionate postdoctoral researcher who:

  • Holds a PhD in biotechnology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biology, or related fields.
  • Has hands-on experience with laboratory and/or computational techniques in protein biochemistry, molecular biology, or structural biology. Expertise in protein interaction assays and experience in preparing samples for structural biology studies (X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM) are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrates a strong track record of research achievements, including a solid publication record and active participation in scientific conferences.
  • Is eager to learn new skills, embrace challenges, and work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Has an excellent command of the English language.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will play a central role in our research efforts, including:

  • Purification and characterization of bacterial proteins and mammalian ubiquitination enzymes involved in protein degradation.
  • Preparation of samples for structural studies (X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM) and active involvement in determining their structures.
  • Analyzing and interpreting data, preparing reports, and presenting findings.
  • Contributing to manuscript writing for high-impact scientific publications.
  • Mentoring junior scientists in the project and fostering a collaborative research environment.
  • Actively participating in research seminars, faculty events, scientific conferences, and international training sessions.
